Pearsall Library has a Matter and Form 3D Scanner. Current students, faculty and staff can reserve time to scan objects in order to create 3D files of the object. These files of the scanned object can then be printed using the 3D printer. There is no charge to use the scanner, but users must make an appointment using the Request an Appointment tab. Typically, an object will require 2 or 3 scans to create the 3D file. The library staff reserves the right to limit scanning time per user during times of high demand.
Matter and Form can scan a wide array of single-color and multi-color objects. Most objects will need multiple scans to produce a 3D model of the object. Some surfaces, including highly reflective or polished surfaces, will not scan well.
