The library is open to the public during regular library hours, and area residents are welcome to use the library as long as they respect library rules and conduct themselves in a manner that respects the rights of library staff and other library users, including the right to be free from harassment, intimidation, and threats to their safety and well-being. Public borrowers should understand that the library's primary mission is to serve the students, faculty, and staff of North Carolina Wesleyan University. Library computers are provided for students to use for academic research, assignments, course management, e-mail, and recreational purposes. A limited number of login ID's are available for area residents to do research and other computer work, but North Carolina Wesleyan University students, faculty, and staff always have priority in the use of library computers, and public users must relinquish library computers if asked to do so by library staff.
NC Wesleyan alumni may use library computers according to the policies governing other public borrowers.
All visitors must sign in at the circulation/reference desk for temporary computer login. Visitors must present a valid North Carolina driver's license or identification card with their current mailing address in order to be added to the library's system for computer use. If the individual does not have a valid NC driver's license or identification card, another current photo ID may be substituted. Visitors under 15 years old will not be logged in unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Both the parent and the child must comply with all computer use policies.
Printing costs are $.10 per page (black & white) and $0.30 per page (color) for public computer users, and printing charges must be paid before printing. A public user must put money on their library account in order to be able to print.
Due to high demand for computing resources, visitors will be limited to one session of up to 2 hours of computer use per day during the fall and spring semesters. To provide adequate access to library resources for our students, faculty, and staff, the library may choose not to allow computer access for non-Wesleyan patrons during times of heavy use. Such times include the end of the semester and final exam periods with are listed on the library's website. Library staff will post notice of these times.
